Transdniester Frozen Conflict

Transdniester is currently seen by most countries of the world as a region of Moldova in Eastern Europe. However Transdniester, also calling itself Pridnestrovie, under the leadership of Igor Smirnov, separated from Moldova and declared independence on September 2nd 1990. This stance was further strengthened when a pitched battle with the assistance of Russian troops took place in 1992.

Since that time the unrecognised country of Transdniester has been in a frozen conflict with Moldova and its supporters. This site will provide information regarding this frozen conflict, who’s on whose side, violent incidents or terrorism, politics and the nature of social development in this tiny strip of land that wishes independent country status.

This site will attempt to offer very little in the way of an opinion, but rather leave it up to the readers to form their own opinions.
